Installation Tips for Steel Border Edging:
- Mark a straight line: stretch a cord between two stakes to determine the exact position of the border edging. Use this as a guideline during installation. Regularly check along the edge to ensure it remains straight or evenly curved, so the end result looks neat and professional.
- Assembly of multiple pieces: to connect several border edgings, use the supplied connecting plates and screws. Both the edgings and the plates come with pre-drilled holes, making it clear where the plate should be positioned. Insert the screws into the holes and secure them with nuts. This method of connection ensures a very stable construction.
- Insert the ground pins vertically: always drive the pins into the ground as vertically as possible to ensure maximum stability and a straight finish.
- Use a hammer with a wooden block: carefully tap the edging further into the ground using a flat hammer and a wooden block to prevent damage or bending of the steel.
- Forming corners: to bend the edging neatly into a corner or curve, you can use a wooden block or template.
- For heavy soil types (e.g clay): create a narrow trench first so the edging van sink into the ground more easily.
Note:
- Upon delivery, the border edging will not yet be fully rusted - this is normal. The rusting process begins once the borders are placed outdoors and exposed to the elements (rain, wind, sun, dew, etc.). Through oxidation, the edging develops its characteristic warm rust-colour.
